theodicy

the vindication of divine goodness and providence in view of the existence of evil

A former student of mine who is now an outspoken atheist cannot reconcile the existence of God and suffering. I’m not sure if he is aware of theodicy.

One Response to theodicy

I read the entire Wikipedia link, and now have a bad case of crossed eyes. When professional philosophers dig into such a subject, the discussion gets pretty complicated for a person of obtuse intellectual capability, such as me.
If you or another of your blog readers has a neat, simple way to explain theodicy, please share it. The Problem of Evil has always been a problem for me, but not enough to turn me into an atheist
