While I am not privy to the fish tacos, I do have a word of the day related inquiry. But first, an admission. I’m having an affair–a sordid affair, really. With Dictionary.com’s word of the day. It’s been going on for over a year now, and I hope you and your blog and its ever-growing subscribers can forgive me.
Now my question. Today’s word was
RAPINE, a word that according to the site, is pronounced [RAP-in]. Is this correct? How do you pronounce this word? Thankd for your help.

In my last post, I wrote “its ever-growing subscribers”. In my haste, I made it sound as if the folks reading your bolg were battling the bulge, when really I meant that the list of people reading your blog is ever-growing. Also, THANKS (not thankd) for your help.

Nicole, as far as I know, RAP-in is the customary pronunciation, while a secondary pronunciation is RAP-ine (with a long “i” sound).
