This morning I went to the oral surgeon to have my four wisdom teeth pulled. The procedure was painless because they knocked me out with some general anaesthesia. The last time I had general anaesthesia, 15 years ago for a knee injury, I woke up crying and mumbling, “I don’t want to die, I don’t want to die.” I felt as if I was being pulled out of a black hole. So, you can probably imagine my relief this time when I gently awoke to the nurse’s soft voice asking me to sit up. No death fear, no black hole. Just some swelling, a little woozy feeling, and a pain in the back of my mouth—nothing that a vicoden and another nap won’t take care of. Sweet dreams.

Ouch! I’m just glad you arose from the abyss gently versus crying.
I hope you had a good meal before going in. It might be soft foods for a while.
Here’s to a very speedy recovery.

Sorry about your ordeal today, Karl. I had forgotten that today was the day for it. I hope that tomorrow morning will bring a minimum of discomfort. By the way, the reason that you had such a bad time 15 years ago is that they were using anaesthetic back then, while today they’re using the more advanced anesthetic. Sweet dreams, indeed.
Glad you’re doing well, Karl – I had no clue this was happening to you today.

Hey Karl….
Hope you’re back to 100 percent comfort very soon. Are you any wiser?
Thanks, everyone, for your concern. I’m feeling much better today. The swelling is down, and the pain is almost gone. All in all, it could have been a lot worse. (I’ve heard horror stories.)
Unfortunately, Michael, I am no wiser. I’m afraid that what little wisdom I had was yanked out along with the teeth.
