The enormity of this thing has me not even wanting to turn on the news on TV; it’s so numbing. I’m amazed at the number of resources outlined on the web site you cited. It’s kind of hard to know just where to direct personal aid. I wonder if the CRWRC is equipped and effective in this kind of a situation? I’ll call them tomorrow to find out.

  2. I know what you mean; it’s almost too much to take in.
I’m not sure how effective they are, but here is information from a press release that the CRWRC provided on their website:

Financial donations to support CRWRC Disaster Response efforts should be marked “South Asia Earthquake” and sent to CRWRC at 2850 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49560 (US) or 3475 Mainway, PO Box 5070 Burlington, ON L7R 3Y8 (Canada). Credit card donations can also be given by calling 1-800-55-CRWRC(US), 1-800-730-3490 (Canada), or through CRWRC

    Karl…
My entire body shrivels with the thoughts of the devestation, and I have been reading the Times like a maniac, scouring it for any info on how to help. There is a list on http://www.nytimes.com
of at least 12 aid agencies taking donations. As with any other tragedy, relief networks are grateful for any help, but at this point, money is the preferred form of aid.
The Times printed a story of a 5 day old baby found floating on a door of a demolished hotel; the lad was alive, amazingly, and despite my questioning of God as to the reason for this calamity, I found this story full of grace somehow.
    Love,
    Nicole

Asians all over the world have joined with the Sri Lankan Community in New York in denouncing the cruel and racist Tsunami Song by Miss Jones and Todd Lynn aired over Hot 97, the hip hop radio station in New York. Miss Jones who was only given a temporary suspension by Richard Cummings, President of Emmis Radio, is to get her job back in two weeks time. US President George Bush has been urged to take action against Emmis Radio. Cummings has been asked to visit Indonesia and Sri Lanka and see the devastation for himself.
