Okay, I am not making this up. I was looking up an album by Rosie Thomas on amazon.com the other day when I noticed the strangest thing. Where the page typically would have a section called “Our Customers’ Advice,” it instead suggested that “Customers who wear clothes also shop for:…Clean Underwear from Amazon’s Target Store.” You see, with all the market segmentation amazon.com does, they’ve discovered that the really valuable distinction is between the clothes-wearing type and the nudist. I find that refreshing. It’s also gratifying to see Target making the bold move to advertise its underwear as “clean.” Hey, sometimes it’s hard to know what you’re going to get when you buy online.
