I just read an article that described Rainer Maria Rilke as, among other things, lachrymose.

    I am mortified!! All these years I have been using that word incorrectly as describing persons with sloping eyebrows. Thanks for setting me straight.

    Lacrimosa is a famous part of the Mozart’s Requiem, which implies lamenting over the deceased.
