Book Club Camping Trip
August 20, 2007
Sara's book club gets together once a month to talk about everything except the book they had decided to read. This year they decided to include the rest of their families for a camping trip up in Manistee, MIchigan.
Most of us arrived early Friday evening and planned to stay until Sunday, but when the rain started coming down Saturday afternoon, we all decided to pack it up early after a quick dinner and head home for the comfort of warm, dry beds.
Here are a few pictures of the 26-hour, multi-family camping trip of 2007...
Steve grilled some mean burgers for us on Friday night:
It was a delicious meal:

Afterwards, we all headed down to the beach to watch the sunset:

Some of the kids got a little wet:

But Steve was the only one brave enough to go all the way in:
The next morning we had breakfast:

And we warmed up at the fire:
In the afternoon, some of us played wiffle ball:

Some of the time:
The time was too short, but it was great while it lasted.

Love that last picture of Ben - immediately conjures the perfect blend of Karl/Sara genes!

Hey! We discuss the book! In fact, we discussed the book on Friday night around the campfire. In the interests of full disclosure, we often discuss the book directly for only 5-10 minutes, then spend longer time discussing the issues in our lives the book brings up--which could still count as book discussion. Great pictures of the 26 hours, especially the solo one of Eliza, whose hairdo matches the lid of her sippy cup.

Hi Natalie,
I know, I know. I was exaggerating. Hyperbole. Poetic license and all that.

Looks like you had a fun time - love the pic of Lucy warming by the fire and Ben with his mighty swing! We are heading up north with 9 couples for two days. No little children to adore - and the comfort of a motel room. Different chapter.
Sara,
The flowers are still looking pretty good and were lovely all week. The bars lasted about three hours - with restraint. Yummy! Many thanks. Love you all.

How fun! Too bad it was cut short but the kids looked like they had a good time anyway. The pictures by the lake are beautiful! The picture of Ben looks like a clothing ad-- I love it!
